The primary focus of the Centre is to work towards the elimination of sexual violence in society. The Centre engages with a range of community and statutory bodies, alongside second and third level students in their colleges and schools.
Recent activities include the FixedIt campaign, Ask Consent, Cork Against Human Trafficking and Safe Gigs.

On International Women's Day 1983, the Cork Rape Crisis centre opened it's doors to provide services to victims of sexual violence in Cork City and County.
In 2004, the Cork Rape Crisis Centre became the Sexual Violence Centre, to reflect the full range of services provided. The name more accurately reflects both the range of clients who attend the Centre and the reality of the sexual violence they experience.
The Centre provides services to survivors of rape, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. There is no 'typical' person who comes to the Centre - our clients are both young and old, women and men, of all different nationalities and ethnicities. The door of the Sexual Violence Centre is open to everyone, irrespective of the nature of the sexual violence they experienced or when it occurred.
Services include a freephone helpline, counselling, accompaniment to court or the Sexual Assault Treatment Unit and training. To find out more about the services we provide, please visit our Services page.
